This morning Ray, HK3SR, was called over to Howard Webb's home by his daughter Denise who told Ray that Howard passed away earlier. Ray called and told me the sad news. We have no further details except that he had low blood sugar, a low red corpuscle count, a pending hernia operation, prostate problems, heart problems and Shingles.

Those of you who know Howard personally have experienced his spark of life under difficult medical conditions during the past few years. He enjoyed meeting new people and helping old ones in times of need. He was a generous person and worked in the oil business in Peru and Colombia for many years before retiring after spending time in the field as well as in the office as Manager of General Pipe oil drilling pipe company. He operated his ham radio in Peru before relocating to Colombia where he settled down and married. He always had a smile and a funny story to tell for those who took time to visit with him. I used to call him a smiling Irish Leprechan since his face and personality reminded me of one of those legendary characters. He will be missed by me and many others who knew him on the air as HK3WOP. I send my condolences to his wife Lucy and his daughter Denise.
